When you think of a star, what comes to mind? A galaxy, a constellation? Perhaps your mind is still on the old-fashioned idea of a star-like sky. However, what today’s modern homes usually have in common is their master bedrooms!

They’re where our most important people sleep, and for good reason: Homes with master bedrooms feature ideas are a lot more than just an average bedroom.

They act as living spaces too; whether that be a formal sitting room or a private game space. And because they’re also your first impression of your home, it’s important that they look their best.

Start with a comfy bed

If you’re choosing between a king or a queen bed, make sure you opt for the latter. You’ll sleep better, feel more confident, and look better if you have a smaller bed to kick off your master bedroom makeover.

It’s not just the look of the bed that matters: The firmness of the mattress plays a significant role in how you wake up in the morning and how much energy you have left for the day. Choose the right mattress for your budget, and for your needs.

Add a chest of drawers to your master bedroom

Having a small bedroom can make you feel self-conscious. You may not have the room for a full-blown closet, or for the numerous clothes you’ll inevitably end up keeping on- and off-the-body. A chest of drawers is a perfect solution for this bedroom layout problem.

Put it in the very center of the room, and the largest room in the house. The drawers can be closed and used as a closet, and they can also double as great storage space if you have room for it.

And if you don’t, there are many options to make the most of the open space on the wall above the drawers.

Add a desk to your master bedroom

Nothing feels more slimy and outdated than a desk in a bedroom. But with a few simple tweaks, a desk can work in your master bedroom, too. Put it in the same location as the chest of drawers, and use it as a table.

Extend the desk o.k. so it’s not so deep in the room. Next, add a few drawers to the top of the desk for additional storage. And last but not least, add a chair so it feels more like a desk and less like a library.

Add some color to your walls

If you’re tempted to simply cover your bedroom walls in the same boring wallpaper you have on the rest of your house, think again.

Wallpaper only looks cheap and uncomfortable on walls, so if you want to save money and get a more lasting wall impression, think about painting. paints are typically very expensive, so if you want to save money, consider hiring someone to do the job.

Or, If you merely want to freshen up your space, you can always use a simple brush and clean canvas to create a more unusual look.

Don’t forget about ventilation

Your bedroom should be as airy and open as possible. This means ventilation is a must, and having a window that’s too narrow for indoor use isn’t the solution.

In addition, you don’t want to keep your bedroom door shut, as this could keep your room colder than it needs to be.

If possible, try to open your bedroom door at least a crack so that some of the natural light can get in. This will help keep your bedroom temperature more consistent while allowing you to feel a little more comfortable.

Wrapping Up

The master bedroom is the heart of your home, and it’s the one room where you can do a lot to set your house up for success. It’s the place where you’re likely to spend the most time, so it’s important that it looks its best.

There’s no real secret to making a great master bedroom, other than keeping it clean, organized, and bright. Remember, a messy master bedroom is a clear sign that you don’t care about your house — so take care of your room and it’ll take care of you.
